Chinese New Year

It's celebrated in February. The big one is the Chinese New Year. The celebrations last three days and end with an eye-catching firework display in Victoria Harbor and traditional parade. The city becomes shut for three days as people go to China Spring Lantern Festival : Held in February or March. This begins on the last day of the Chinese New Year. Ching Ming Festival

It's celebrated in April. It is celebrated to mark the beginning of spring. They adorn the ancestral graves and decorate it. Incense is burnt and exquisite food is eaten.

Tin Hau Festival

It's celebrated in April/May. You will see a number of boats decorated splendidly make their way to Tin Hau temples in the area to pray for blessings.

Cheung Festival

It's celebrated in the month of May. Watch the infamous bun tower climbing competition

Buddha’s Birthday

It's celebrated in the month of May. See the Buddha statues taken from monasteries for an annual bath. This day is public holiday in China.

Dragon Boat Festival

It's celebrated in the month of June. Watch the most colorful festival of the year. Eight men dragon boat engage in a fierce competition for three days.

Mid Autumn Festival

It's celebrated in the month of September. The dragon dancers fill the streets and lanterns are hung every where. Taste the moon cakes with two salted eggs inside.

Cheung Yeung Festival

It's celebrated in the month of October. You will find the locals going up hills to offer prayer and burn offerings. This has been then instated based on a story of someone saved from death by moving up to higher ground.

Symphony of Lights

This has been accorded the world’s largest permanent light and sound show by the Guinness World Records. This combines the glamorous display of light from 33 key buildings to the accompaniment of capturing music at Victoria Harbor.
