Ten Thousand Buddha’s Monastery

The monastery of ten thousand Budha is located near the Territories town of Sha Tin ,High above a hillside. Four hundred steps uphill,with statues of Budhas in different postures would take you to the Monastery.
The Monastery, is lined with almost 12,000 golden Statues of Sri Budhas .All of the statues are different, with each one having its own postures and expressions. At the top of the Sha Tin’s monastery, the body of the founder monk- Yuet Kai is preserved and presented in a glass case.You can find a huge Budha on top of the elephant and several temples near the main hall ,where the body is preserved.
Due to its historic significance the Main Temple and the Pagoda of the Monastery are given Grade III.The monastery is situated in 8 hectares of land. At the lower level of the temple the pagoda (An Asian temple; usually a pyramidal tower with an upward curving roof).two pavilions and an architectural structure. Budha statues house five halls in the monastery.
In the Monastery and uphill you could find different Buddhas in different postures, colours, statures etc.
You can find macho and bald, Buddhas with walking sticks, with dogs dragons and frogs, androgynous thin and chubby and hairy Buddhas.
